Reading Corner
Celebrating World Book Day at
Stoke Canon C of E Primary School
The school was very pleased that William Grill could return to the school (sadly
virtually this time ) to talk about his latest book and what it is like to write and
illustrate your own books. William is a London based illustrator whose main interest
lies in narrative illustration and publishing. He draws most of his inspiration from the
natural world, and enjoys working in coloured pencils and occasionally printmaking
processes like lino and lithography. His first book Shackleton's Journey won the
2015 Kate Greenaway award and has been translated into over 14 languages.
The children were really inspired by both his work and how he overcomes challenges
he encounters.

Readathon
Here are some of the children who have been reading at home in the Readathon challenge. For their achievements they have been presented with a certificate. If they were also sponsored for their reading all the money raised by the individual children will go towards buying something for their classroom.
