The Federation Story

Our two schools federated in April 2019. Over the following 11 months our schools began to work more closely together with shared staff meetings, monitoring and staff beginning to work across both settings.

In March 2020 the world was faced with a global pandemic - and our outward-looking, collaborative approach had to take a back seat. Save for the Easter holidays 2020 - where vulnerable and key worker children from both schools were able to spend time with each other (in a socially distanced way).

As we navigated our way through, and out, of the crisis, which still unfortunately has some way to go, we began to look forward and outward again. Both to embrace each other within our federation, but also more widely through a modern, global vision.

It is important that we recognise and respect both the parts and the whole of our federation. Each school has its own culture and ethos, aims and values. Although the important elements that make up our schools are similar, what makes each unique are how these shine through in our staff and our children.

The direction of our federation and the foundations upon which it sits are illustrated in our vision.

As a Headteacher, and now Executive Headteacher, I have always appreciated and valued the opinions and views of my staff. It is so important to me that they all feel valued members of our school community and without all their contributions we would not be the schools, and federation, we are today. 

We have formed a vision statement which truly reflects our schools and the long-term view for our federation. We have one statement for the federation, but this is personalised to reflect the differences in our schools.
