The new national curriculum in English Primary schools: a guide for parents

At Stoke Canon C of E Primary School we offer a broad curriculum in line the 2014 National Curriculum. Due attention is given to each subject to ensure full coverage of every area and progression throughout the school. Staff work closely together to plan the curriculum in order to achieve both topic-based work and single subject teaching. Links across curriculum subjects provide opportunities for children to learn within carefully structured topic frameworks, particularly in the early years. More emphasis is given to distinct subjects with older children.

Children are taught in whole classes, groups and individually, depending on the nature of the task. Their progress is assessed throughout the school year in order to identify any problem areas and to ensure that each child has the opportunity to reach his/her maximum potential.

National Primary Curriculum from Sept 2014

This document shows how we organise topics around our curriculum-  this was updated in Sept 2014 to reflect the new national curriculum.

However, learning is not just about the content of the curriculum ! it is all about attitudes towards learning- we focus on this through our '8 Secrets of Success'

These are:

Try new things, Work hard, Concentrate, Push yourself,

Imagine, Improve, Understand others, Don’t give up
